He was one of the leading masters of the famous magazine "Soviet Union" (now "The New Russia"). Famous, so to speak for its photo essays, which current events captured of the country and epoch. In the magazine worked a collective of the best photojournalists of the USSR. "My teachers are first-class photographers. Alexander Rodchenko, Dmitry Debabov, Max Alpert, Abram Shterenberg, Georgiy Petrysov", - told Ruikovich.
Ruikovich was the photographer with taste. He picked up for the first time in 1914. Ruikovich was a special photo-correspondent of the war-front newspapers. Going from Moscow to Kenigsberg, from November 41-s to may 1945-s.

In 1972 he was dismissed from the magazine "Soviet Union", because in Germany were published photos of three naked women, which were washed in a bath-house.
